What does a Board member do in CARF?

Our Board members are local people with an interest and/or expertise in management issues, who represent the interests of the people of Fife. The Board has considerable responsibility for issues such as:

  • Financial management such as budget review, fundraising and planned service developments
  • Promotion and awareness raising to make sure that people living or working in Fife know that they can turn to CARF for free, confidential advice and information
  • Supporting excellent service delivery through working with the CARF management team and Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) to make sure that quality standards are being maintained
  • Strategic planning, including developing CARF’s business plan and monitoring its implementation
  • Good employment practice: CARF must lead the way as an employer of paid staff.

No qualifications needed

You don’t need specific qualifications or experience to become an Board member at CARF as a full induction will be provided, but it helps if you have experience of the strategic management of an organisation or specialist skills such as fundraising, financial management or marketing and promotion that could support the work of CARF.

Good to know

Board members are elected at our Annual General Meeting, and Board places are limited.
